You are welcome to the College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri. Please consider it a privilege to be admitted into one of our highly competitive academic programmes as a new member of the College. The College of Medical Sciences was established 43 years ago by the University of Maiduguri act 83 of 1979.
From the first set of 21 Doctors who graduated in 1983, the College has so far graduated a total of 2,932 medical doctors, 216 dental surgeons, 606 Human Anatomists, 644 Laboratory Scientists, 695 Radiographers, 572 Nurses and 242 Physiotherapists as of January, 2022.
Rebecca Mtaku Gali PhD
I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist and a Professor in Chemical Pathology. I am a lecturer and a researcher in Implementation Science University of Maiduguri. Producing accurate results that help in timely intervention and improve patient care, is my goal when I work on bench as a Laboratory Scientist. Discoveries during research, screenings and relating to those concern to find help or solution is the great fulfilment in life for me.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the website of our prestigious College of Medical Sciences, the College of Medical Sciences of the largest and most cosmopolitan University in North-Eastern Nigeria.
You are welcome to the College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri. Please consider it a privilege to be admitted into one of our highly competitive academic programmes as a new member of the College. The College of Medical Sciences was established 43 years ago by the University of Maiduguri act 83 of 1979. The College of Medical Sciences has since grown to become the largest in this University, with a total of 5 Faculties and 29 Departments.
MISSION
Our mission is to sustain the advancement of knowledge, attitude and practice of human Medicine and health Services through competency directed at teaching, high-impact research, effective clinical and innovative community services, that meets local, National and International needs.
VISION
Our vision is to make College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri to be among the top ten in Sub-Saharan Africa by the year 2030 comparable to any College of Medicine actively engaged in imparting contemporary knowledge, using high quality equipment’s, to students using modern approaches, as well as improving the health status of its immediate community, Nigerians and beyond.
The main functions of the College include teaching, research and community service. The teaching and training of Medical Doctors, Anatomist, Physiologist, Nutrition and Dietetics Scientist and Allied Health Professionals to meet high international standard is one of the most cardinal objectives of the College. A Medical Doctor trained in this institution is expected to be well versed in medical and health problems generally and the tropics in particular. The training is oriented towards preventive medicine and community-based primary health care.
